Chapter five Society and Inequality in Eurasia/ North Africa

Society and Inequality

This chapter consists of a series of people known as seminal thinkers that made a difference for thousands of people and some of there beliefs and thoughts still play a large role now a days.

Gandhi tried to raise status of untouchables know as the Harijan. Some problems also located in Asia had to do with the land lord class, most of officials from wealthy farms avoided paying taxes of large estates. This increased the general tax for peasants making it extremely unfair and ridiculous.

Peasants was a large part of the population that happened to become beggars or even join gangs in order to make a difference for themselves. Lots of rebellions broke out some mostly from the yellow turban and they looked for peace.

Another class that played a role was the merchant class these were born into there caste. Merchants were known to be greedy and important because they were pure of blood and concentrated on nothing other than in the materialistic world.

Some of the caste played an important role such as the slaves, and ,Aspasia known as the high class in Sparta. The slaves made it possible for a lot of things to happen. This was cheap labor but at the same time it provided an easier restrain in the overall population of Asia. Later on these ideals were passed onto the Romans and they adapted to this perfectly fine because it was easy labor and it made it easier to deal with huge estates that need work.

Later on in China there was a new dynasty know as the Tang Dynasty and it was know for not only being the only place for being ruled by a woman especially during this time. Women in Athens were expected to stay at home and could not own land.

Chapter four Culture and Religion in Eurasia/ North Africa

Culture/ Religion in Eurasia and North Africa

China, India, Middle east, and Greece were very important in history for the most part they spread their religion, values, and outlooks on most of the world. Some of the most important things religions and beliefs that were widely spread was Confucianism, Daoism, Hinduism, and Judaism.

For the most part there was religion spread across the land but there was also a massive increase in thoughts related to philosophy some of these thoughts are directly connected to Plato and Socrates. these beliefs quickly spread because this time was not only a time when people were exploring but also people had the ability to travel long distances without having a high chance of dying in the way.

China and Greece concentrates on thinking about the world affairs and other places such as India and Persia, and Jewish concentrated on things like the unseen realm and setting up a relationship with God.

Having a series of beliefs means that people had to write down everything in books or texts like Vedas, Upanishads, Atman, Moksha, and the Samsara. Having for the most part the spread of Christianity and Buddhism. Religion during this time was crucial because it not only showed the spread of culture but it made things such as language easier to spread

In general the life of people during this time was based on religion and in the spread of those beliefs making things like life easier

Chapter three State and Empire in Eurasia/ North Africa

State and Empire

One of the main things that happened between 500 BCE and 500 CE was the advancements in communication that empires set up in order to send information and trade.

A major civilization that played a large role in history was the Persian Empire. This was an extensive area of land that provided the world during that time a connection that had not be done yet. The connection between the north of Africa and Eurasia created a bridge of goods and ideas that people had for once.

For the most part the Persian Empire consisted of large palaces enforced taxes and monuments. All of these things were good and it was all put together by providing canals and a type of army that was placed on each town making this a secure place to live in.

Greek colonization was also important because there was a massive impact in religion and in the increase in knowledge of medal working. For the most part the Greeks were know for managing free affairs in state and for the Olympic games. This is important because it provides a massive increase in their army and their leadership infrastructure.

The Roman Empire was an important part of history also the land was know to be ruled by Alexander the Great and he helped spread Greece. The Roman empire was incredibly large made up by most of the South of modern Europe.

Another civilization that played a large role in history was China's set of empires. In general all of these dynasties were a set of rulers that succeeded one after the other. After one was succeeded the other would try to fix problems that happened or increase the land that they ruled.

Chapter two First Civilizations

First Civilization
Some of the main points that this chapter provides has to do with the increase in life quality which means that people lived longer in general.

Major changes happened during this time such as the quality of life for people. For the most part there was a surplus food which meant that there was a more food that was needed for basic survival. Some of the ways that homo sapiens keep this amount of food was through storing abilities that they developed through time. Some people would sell, trade, or eat more. All of these changed the way that people reacted to certain things like the life construction of their homes and  the way that they planted.

For the most part since there was an increase in food homo sapiens could become specialized in one thing for the first time in history. A person could dedicate its life making shoes but could still manage to survive because they could still live trading and or selling their merchandise.

People managed to live in a society that started to concentrate on looks and less in the basic things like food and water. By concentrating in looks people started to obtain things like jewelry starting the ideals in possession and hierarchy. These apply to each other because the life of people had an abrupt change when it came to the importance of some one as a person. People who were rich were now able to do things that no one could do.

An important feature during this time was the creation of crucial civilizations like the Egyptians and the Mesopotamian which clearly showed a difference in technology and life style in general.

The Hammurabi laws also played a large role during this time because it allowed people in general to start to follow the rules set by society and by doing this people had to set limits and start to become civilized which was one of the first times that things started to somewhat resemble the things of now a days.

Chapter one Documents and Images

Primary Sources
For the most part all of the sources have to do with either the life of common people or a sculpture that has to do with the life of someone. The life that these paleolithic people have was know for being egalitarian, or equal worth, in which people in this society have the ability to do the same thing without being judged for their gender.

Life for women and males in the paleolithic society was of equal value which means that marriage and rules applied for them both even if one did something good or bad.

Visual source
In this section a series of images were introduced in which one gets to interpret them in any way. On the first image one gets to see a person trying to hunt an animal. This picture is important because it provides the artistic value of the general civilization during this time. The ability to paint with the resources that they had back then shows that art has always been a part of civilization.

On the other part there is a sculpture that shows a sort of god and since there is no back ground history on the object there is nothing that people can do about it other than to admire the artistic time that someone had to provide in order to sculpt this.

The third image provides a picture of an old human being that could possibly be connected to the life of an iceman. The iceman had a lot of things with him like food and a series of tools that made him a person that relied on the modern technology of that time.

Paleolithic and Neolithic era

The paleolithic era was in between 200,000-12,000 years ago. During this time the homo sapiens were living in small groups that consisted of 20-25 people. This led to a couple of factors including the separation of roles such as the gathers and hunters this was not as even as I had originally thought. The gathers provided 70% of the food while the hunters brought the other 30%. The homo sapiens during this time had a non destructive interaction with the environment. Stone tools were used for simple tasks such as cutting.

Migration is a crucial part of civilization, during this time it is somewhat proof that humans had always had a drive to explore unknown areas. The migration out of Africa was the first step taken into the massive spread of people in all of the continents except Antarctica.

The neolithic era was a time in which we out competed all species of homo. This was due to the fact that there was a series of new complex stone tools. Some of these tools had an impact with the settlement of agricultural communities. During this time people started to own things which made people evolve in an defensive way. This basically means that people obtained things as they grew smarter but also made them more aggressive because they had to protect the things that they had obtained. While some people got better at doing things than others, such as farming or gathering people started to become specialized and this led to some people having surplus and that led to social hierarchy.
